Gun Runner’s Candy Aisle earned her third consecutive stakes victory, and the first of her 3-year-old campaign, on Jan. 19 in the $65,000 Borderplex S. at Sunland Park [WATCH RACE].
Despite traffic trouble much of the 6 ½-furlong trip, Candy Aisle finally found a seam between horses in mid-stretch and burst through swiftly to take command and win going away by one length.
The bay filly, a $250,000 Keeneland November purchase in 2021, won the Manzano S. and Zia Park Princess S. to close out her 2023 season. She is now 3-0-0 in four starts and has earned $144,600 for Randy Andrews, Jim Cone, Brad King and Lee Lewis.
Candy Aisle was bred by Gun Runner Syndicate and C. W. Swann. Out of unraced Rosalie Road, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Adore the Gold, Candy Aisle is a half-sister to five-time stakes winner Offering Plan and has a 2-year-old full brother.
Gun Runner, last year’s champion Third-Crop sire with $17.5 million in progeny earnings, ranked third on the 2023 General Sire list. His 2024 fee is $250,000 S&N.
